Stig Kristoffersen asked:

AppStore has over 30.000 applications on offer to you at the moment. Apple AppStore is a success with almost 1 billion downloads up till now.

However, there is a flip side to this story. Lot of developers’ makes applications for the Apple products IPhone and IPodTouch but their products never makes it to the AppStore.

Applications that utilize certain functionalities in the iPhone like cut and paste, video recording, streaming, MMS, filesharing through Bluetooth and batch processes does not make it to the AppStore.

Apple also reserves them to prohibit applications that do not fit into the vision of Apple iPhone usage, like podcasting, direct access to the GPS and competing email and web browser clients.

iPhone 3.0 firmware will make it possible to utilize some of these functionalities, but not all. Therefore there is a development of jail breaking of the iPhones. These hacked versions of iPhones can utilize the capabilities that Apple do not want users to use, even in the new firmware 3.0.

Some developers complain about the discrimination of applications launched on AppStore as they seem to be of competition reasons mostly, to the disadvantage of Apple.

This question the AppStore as a sole provider of applications to the iPhone, and will maybe force the upcoming of competing AppStore’s in the near future.

Apple has not taken any special efforts in fighting the distribution of applications made for the hacked versions of the iPhone as it may have a positive effect on the iPhone concept, as it creates a positive buzz and creative development around the product.

There are 10 applications that Apple does not promote on the AppStore, and they are;

Clippy that make it possible to cut and paste text between applications. This is a functionality iPhone users have asked for since the launch of the iPhone. You can copy a text message and paste it into an email. Clippy does not work with Mobile Safari though. This functionality is promised to be in the 3.0 firmware version of the iPhone.

Cyntact makes it possible to get pop-ups of the pictures of your contacts when you browse through your contacts list and not only when they call you as you do in the original iPhone software.. This enables you to quick get information you have on a person, either using names or pictures.

Voicemail Forwarder can forward sound messages to anyone with an email address. As iPhone solution acts as a receiver portal for sound messages only. The purpose of being able to do this is to either archive or forward funny messages to others.

Cycorder: enables you to take both pictures and videos with your iPhone, which is not possible on the standard edition of your iPhone today. The software makes it possible to record a video with up to 15 captures pr second in a resolution of 384 x 288 pixles.

MxTube: makes it possible for you to see Youtube videos on your iPhone if you do not have access to internet. MxTube enables you to watch your favourite Youube videos offline.

MiVTones: software makes it possible to play any video as a ring tone when someone is calling you. So its an advanced ring tone, instead of the standard audio version you can do on your standard iPhone. You can select between various videos for the various contacts you have in your contacts list, and share videos with others that use this application.

Adblock: is a add-on to Mobile Safari, as it filters out most of the advertisments on the websites you surfe. Then you do not have to suffer from slow downloads of web pages filled with ads in them.

FindMyi: makes it possible to find your phone at any time, anywhere through FindMy’s web page. The application makes it possible to track your phone with the help of the built in GPS functionality of your phone. FindMyi runs in batch mode all the time and does not conflict with other operations on the phone.,So if you fear your phone is stolen or lost, you can salvage data and lock the phone through this software and their web page.

Adam Caitlin asked:

With the launch of iPhones, Apple Inc. created a mark in the history of telecommunications. It is the high end technology and marvelous benefical features that have made this model much popular among the users who are really techno crazy. Getting launched in June 29, 2007, in the U.S., the mobile phone had to satisfy various expectations of the users. IPhones succeeded in keeping up the goodwill of the lineage of Apple with its most sophisticated technological features. The attractive functions carried by iPhones include e-mail, web browsing, and local Wi-Fi connectivity. Beside these, it also has functions like text messaging, nad visual voicemail. The user with the help of Apple iPhones is capable of doing functions like conferencing, call holding, call merging, caller ID, and integration with other cellular network features that makes things more beneficial for the user.

The iPhone from Apple Inc. comes with a fuction of Visual Voicemail feature that will help the user in viewing a list of current voicemail messages on-screen without making a call into their voicemail. It should be note that this function is simply non existant in most other mobile phones available in the market. The Apple introduced a new ring tone on September 5, 2007, as per which, it is possible for the users to create custom ringtones from their purchased iTunes music for a little additional fee, which is the same to the price of a song. It must be taken care that the ringtones are ranging between 3 to 30 seconds in length of any part of a song, including fading in and out.

Another added advantage of the Apple iPhone is the built in 2.0 megapixel camera which is located on the mobile phone that will help the user in uploading, viewing and e-mailing photos. This camera phone guarantees the user of excellent pictures with perfect quality, which can be stored in the phone. The user can also share the pictures among his friends bringing an element of fun on the handset.

Is Iphone Worth Its Price?

Apple, the software maker is more popularly known as iPhone maker these days. It is the most hyped gadget of recent times with a spectacular launch.

Dream gadget of users, wannabe device for style definers, and luxury device for rich people; it fits to all in each category. Its boasting looks and features have left others far behind in the race.

iPhone has been debuted in Indian markets also and for no surprise, it is selling like hot cakes. Host for a bundle of features and most significantly the touchscreen, the device lacks many basic features which are wannabe these days.

The article will enlist all such features:

Absence of Video Recording is the most disappointing feature of the iPhone. For INR 31,000, feature’s presence was must to have as is today found in most basic cell phones even at lower ends.

No high resolution camera: When market is flooded with phones having camera up to 8 MP, 2MP camera is still a very disappointing feature. It is really a very petty feature. Above all, optical zoom and flash are also missing.

Forget Cut, Copy and Paste: With smart PDAs in the market cut, copy and paste is a feature that makes its presence to be felt. But Apple is not in the same bag. It has stayed away from it and no surprise, has invited the rage from users. Usually, every PDA in the market is equipped with this basic utility but with iPhone you will have to type word by word everything same rather than copying it from say, like web.

No Bluetooth: Sharing of files or data on phones using Bluetooth is a common practice with cell phone users. But it seems that Apple has forgotten the fact while designing iPhone. iPhone can’t sync with Bluetooth stereo or in-car Bluetooth hands-free. It lacks A2DP on Bluetooth.

No Replacable battery: Most funny thing, you cannot change the battery of a cell phone at your own. This is really irritating but if you are an iPhone user, you will have to face it. To replace the battery, you have to send it to Apple store and then sustain for 2-3 days which is really very stupid thing to do nowadays.

Forget about sending forwards and MMS: Making it simpler, in nut shell it can be said that you can only send text messages or snapshots of e-mail texts, but completely wipe it from your mind that you can use your iPhone for sending MMS occasionally to your friends. Even sending the same SMS to multiple contacts at single point of time is rather a no feature and simply saying sorry impression for users.

The next sorry feature is the absence of support for Adobe files. In simpler words, you cannot view Flash files on your iPhone. Thus, the lack of Flash support for the Safari Web browser limits the access of several websites on the iPhone.

Above all and may be the most disappointing feature, it is really a tedious job to get support from operators in setting iPhone. No support for customizing ring tones. The feature that misses it on the list of professional users is the “push” email feature which is enjoyed by all BlackBerry users and is the best way for them to stay in touch with office while physically away from that.

How To Customize Your iPhone Ringtone Easily

May 19, 2009 by admin · Leave a Comment

Daniel Millions asked:

iPhone users are used to being spoiled with the latest and greatest fun gadgetry right at their fingertips. So many of these cool tricks the iPhone does make it very convenient for you to use. But customized ringtones simply make your iPhone all the more fun to use.

With the upcoming launch of the latest iPhone, the iPhone 3G, it is certain that there will be many more users of this popular technology. The latest iPhone costs just under two hundred dollars and has 3G wireless technology. It has many of the features that you’d expect from Apple: a phone, a widescreen iPod and a stunning device you can use to surf the Internet and check your e-mail at a moment’s notice. It even has GPS mapping and support for Microsoft Exchange. The iPhone 3G is also easily used in more languages than ever, making it truly a device that can take you around the world.

If you have an iPhone you can get a customized ringtone easily through iTunes. iTunes has more than half a million tracks for you to choose from. With all of the latest music and so many classics the biggest challenge seems to be narrowing down exactly what your iPhone ringtone should be.

One of the best benefits of creating your ringtone through iTunes for your iPhone is that this ringtone is yours to keep. Ringtones through iTunes only cost $1.98. That’s a pretty sweet deal for a ringtone you select yourself from a play list that spans more than half a million songs.

Making your ringtone is easy. The iTunes system takes you through the process step by step. You only need to select the songs from your library that are marked with the ringtone symbol (it looks like a bell, kind of like the kind you’d see in school). Once you see that, you are ready to create your thirty-second ringtone for your iPhone. There are many benefits to having a customized ringtone. Most of us have a favorite song that we identify with in some way. This is a great way to make this song as your personal signature.

Another cool feature of the iTunes ringtones for iPhones is that you can customize your ringtones at an even more extreme level. Create custom ringtones for all the different people that call you. Have a special ringtone so you’ll know that your boss is calling. Have a different ringtone so you know girlfriend #1 is calling. Add another ringtone for girlfriend #2. Maybe you’re all grown up and you need a ringtone to keep track of your mother-in-law. With more than half a million songs to select from, you can easily choose a song that suits each person in your life. This is a fun feature that will have you answering each call, knowing exactly who the person is right at that first ring.

Many have fallen deeply in love with the iPhone technology. The ability to be online, use their cell phone and have iPod technology right in the palms of their hands is so useful. This is a device you’ll turn to again and again. Apple is one of those unique companies that not only makes technology that people want: it also makes technology great fun and entertainment. With Apple, we only want more and more.
